The morning the Tony nominations are announced, phones start ringing off the hook for the happy few who get nods. As usual, Broadway.com is among the callers offering congratulations and getting responses. Here are the first reactions from 2010 Tony nominees. Congrats to all!
Andrew Lippa
Nominated for Best Score, The Addams Family
“I woke up late because I was in the recording studio until three o’clock in the morning; I’m in the last day of finishing producing the cast recording for The Addams Family. I’m very fortunate that I’m making the cast recording for my show and getting nominated for a Tony and having full houses. It’s a very exciting troika. It’s wonderful to be a part of this community. The more I work in the Broadway community, the more I love that I work in the Broadway community. I believe in telling new stories and telling stories with new scores, and being recognized is thrilling. I’m working all day on the CD, but we may order a steak dinner and have a glass of schnapps at the end of the day. Hopefully I can get home to my husband and celebrate with him for a little bit as well.”
